Remember Glenn Branca, Celebrating Fripp, Taj Mahal And Sun Ra

We remember avant-garde composer and musician Glenn Branca, who died Monday at the age of 69. Branca’s work was highly influential on acts such as Sonic Youth, Helmet and countless others. We’ll hear music from his as well as several of his protégés. 

Wednesday, May 16

We celebrate the birthday of King Crimson founder Robert Fripp with music from his work with that band as well as with Blondie, Daryl Hall, and David Sylvian. 

Thursday, May 17

We celebrate the birthday of Taj Mahal, including music from his collaboration with Keb' Mo', TajMo. Plus selections from Jesse Ed Davis, Prince and others. 

Friday, May 18

Only In The Dark is the new release singer-songwriter Jesse Ainslie, known for his work with Phosphorescent. We’ll hear music from that recording plus selections from Late For The Sky, Jackson Browne’s 1974 LP.

Saturday, May 19

Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino is the first album in six years from Arctic Monkeys. Listen for music from that release as well as new songs from Ament, the project of Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament.

Monday, May 21

We’ll hear selections from Prince’s classic album 1999 as well as music from Andre Cymone’s A.C.

Tuesday, May 22

We celebrate the birthday of Sun Ra with selections from NRBQ, Yo La Tengo and others.
