Blues Saxophone Finale

Crossroads wraps up the month-long salute to the blues saxophone with music from Arnett Cobb, Alvin ‘Red’ Tyler, Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson, David ‘Fathead’ Newman, Hank Crawford, and a special in hour two about one of the great jump blues saxophonists and band leaders – Louis Jordan. Plus new music from the Jesus Rocked the Jukebox small group gospel compilation, Al Basile, the Sherman Holmes Project, and the last album from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
